JOB Announcement: Lab Aide/ Work Student III

Salary: $15.03/hour (Grade S11), no benefits
Location: Kingsley CLCP, Falls Church, VA

Schedule: This position may work up to an average of 17 hours per week, not to exceed 900 hours per calendar year. Regular work hours will fall between 2:00 and 8:00 p.m. Exact hours may vary by location

Description: Lab Aides working at a CLCP site will interact with school-aged children, teens and adults utilizing the center, and may be asked to help assist or instruct a class related to technology. Students should have a basic background in computers. Ideally they will understand and be comfortable working with programs such as Microsoft Office, an ability to navigate the Internet, and willingness to learn new software applications. Students will experience a rich variety of ethnic groups and cultures in the centers.   Individual will assist in the daily operations and delivery of curriculum which addresses the needs of a culturally diverse population.  They will assist the Information Technology Educator with administrative functions, communicate participant behavioral issues to supervisor, contribute to innovation and creativeness of programs, and assist in monitoring the proper usage of all materials and supplies.  

Functions within this position include but are not limited to:
1.    Assist with center administrative tasks
2.    Assist in supervision of the children in the CLCP Center
3.    Assist children with homework and Read to children
4.    Chaperone field trips
5.    Provide one-on-one assistance on computer with younger children
6.    Assist with STEM activities
Minimum Qualifications: Applicants should have a strong background in personal computers and software. Experience working with school aged children. Lab Aides must be 18 years of age, and must be able to pass a driving background check and meet the necessary training requirements to drive a community center bus. 
Preferred Qualifications: Bilingual skills are a plus.   
Special Requirements: The appointee to this position will be required to complete a criminal background check, a check of the Child Protective Services Registry, and a driver’s license check to the satisfaction of the employer.
